EUBIA participates at the World Biomarkets conference in Amsterdam, 27-29th of March 2017

EUBIA’s Project Manager Andrea Salimbeni, gave a speech on “Exploring different organic waste valorisation strategies: From fresh material to power” at the World Biomarkets conference on a session chaired by Bob Cleaves, President and CEO of Biomass Power Association.

Mr. Salimbeni presented an overview of the EUBIA’s vision on the future bioenergy sector in Europe and worldwide, including some examples of initiatives and projects. EUBIA’s involvement on ongoing projects such as Agrocycle and BioReg is in line with its strategy of focusing on reusing all biological wastes, from sludges to waste wood, to produce high value and competitive biofuels and biomaterials, with an expected CO2 reduction of 40 billion tons per year within 2030.

Andrea Salimbeni participated as well on the panel discussion on “Exploring ways in which to ensure sustainability – concerns, tracking, certification”, which aimed to address the issue of biomass sustainability certification, its role and benefits for the biopower market development. On the discussion intervened other panellists such as Mr. Norbert Schmitz, Managing Director of ISCC System GmbH, and Jennifer Jenkins from Enviva.
