Securing Europe’s gas supply: new Regulation comes into force.
From the 1st of November a new regulation has entered into force related to the security of gas supply in the EU. This regulation is aimed at increasing the requirements to EU countries from the regulation already established in 2010.
The main challenges will be to work together under a ‘solidarity principle’ to guarantee the provision of gas in neighbour countries and agree on joint actions. Moreover, gas companies will need to notify authorities about long-term supply contracts and the European Network for Transmission System Operators for Gas will have to perform a disruption simulation in order to help the EU to anticipate risks.
