The European Commission published an updated version of its Horizon2020 calls for 2019. The programme’s Societal Challenge 2 addresses issues regarding “Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine, maritime and inland water research and the Bioeconomy”. In particular, the calls of SC2 are divided in: Sustainable Food Security; Rural renaissance; and Blue Growth. The Rural Renaissance Calls have a budget of €263 million for greener and more circular rural areas. Currently, there are 10 calls opened until January 2019, and one call closing in September 2018.
