Stora Enso is a company based in Finland and Sweden aiming at replacing fossil fuel-based materials with innovative bio-based materials, improve processes, save energy and use raw material as efficiently as possible. The company works with wood and other renewable sources to produce packaging, wooden contractions, paper, bio-composites and bio-based chemicals among others. Stora Enso runs two startup programmes: Accelerator programme where they collaborate with startups to develop renewable products and innovations; and Combient Foundry Venture Client programme which looks for new approaches to utilising emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, big data, the Internet of Things and robotics.
The company won several prizes such as Most Startup- Friendly company in Finland in 2018, Best Product Innovation for their lignin production, Gold Sustainability Award for the creation of the EcoFishBox.
