- To actively participate in Emission Trading Systems (ETS) and complete projects for emissions reduction based on the Flexible Mechanisms provided for by the Kyoto Protocol
- To reduce the ecological footprint through environmental decontamination and rehabilitation activities and to safeguard biodiversity
Achievements:
- Thanks to its activities in the natural gas sector, Eni is in the position to offer the market a range of sources with reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The average emissions factor is 2.65 tCO2/toe, one of the lowest values in the world among the major oil & gas companies
- The current investment program for the development of natural gas (value enhancement of the gas equity, strengthening of the transport infrastructures, construction of combined cycle cogeneration plants) aims at strengthening its leadership in the European market
- Eni has introduced an ETS management model involving more than 200 internal experts and is developing a portfolio of projects for emissions reduction based on the Flexible Mechanisms provided for by the Kyoto Protocol
- Eni has developed a complex HSE management system to ensure that operations in all its spheres of activity are carried out minimizing environments impacts while also safeguarding biodiversity
