EUBIA is proud to inform its members that it has joined the consortium of the Horizon 2020 "BIOMAC" project, a European Commission-backed effort that started on January 2021. The main goal of the project is to reduce all the barriers that hinder the full development and revolutionary applications of biobased nanomaterials and similar technologies. In order to do so, BIOMAC will create an Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB) capable of upscaling the market-readiness and production of nanostrctured bio-based materials (NMBs). The Ecosystem will be made accessible to interested SMEs after an initial phase of tests.
More info about BIOMAC will be available soon.

Within the BIOMAC, EUBIA will be one of the leading partners, specifically in charge of the dissemination, communication and clustering activities of the project. Included in these activites is the preparation of the strategy that will intend to reach a wide audience and communicate the services, results and knowledge provided by the BIOMAC Ecosystem. Clustering activities will also be part of the activies carried out by EUBIA, seeking the widest engagement of stakeholders in the activities of BIOMAC, as well as attracting investors and potential future clients.

The EU's new Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy
In early December 2020, the European Commission has announced its new EU transport system Action Plan for the next four years with the plan of cutting down 90% of all emissions by 2050. Among the key measures are the reduction of the transport sector's emissions through the replacement of existing fleets with low- and zero-emission vehicles, and the boost in usage of renewable and low-carbon fuels on a large scale without delay. One of the 82 initiatives stated by the Commission is to end fossil-fuel subsidies while at the same time improving incentives on sustainable transport fuels.
